SATURN’S RINGS

RINGS

By using a telescope we can see saturn’s beautiful rings and it is done for first time by Galileo who used his 20-power telescope.

They have divided the rings of saturn in 7 major parts, two main section as A and B and Smaller ring called C or crepe ring and D, F rings.

Rings with larger caps called Cassini division and smaller caps is Encke division. If we start  from closest rings we have D, C, B, the cassini Division, A, the Encke division, and F which sub divided to G and E, and a ring called knots which has visible clusters of matter.

Due to gravitational effect of leading moons rings show a complex structure but we don’t know much about these rings. As said rings are composition of ice chunks and rock and in size are different from a fingernail to size of one car but their diameter are too wide (185000 miles = 300000 km) and they are so thin around .6 miles = 1km thickness.

SATURN’S MOONS

There are lots of moon in saturn up to August 2004 about 33 of them discovered and they named 18 moons up to now. The greatest one is Titan moon which has a thick nitrogen atmosphere.
