Geothermal
Energy
Geothermal meaning earth's thermal energy that has been
around since the beginning of earth.
Except the outer cold layer of earth, the underneath
layers has enormous heat that reveal in any break of
crust, as seen in volcanoes. Lava is a melted hot earth
that flow from a volcano.
Temperature under ground rises about 3 degree Celsius
per 100 meter, so in a depth of 10.000 feet, we expect a
temperature for boiling water.
Geysers are a form of hot springs that pour out the
water and steam intermittently. This is as a result of
reaching the surface water to the deep internal earth
cracks.
Such places are spread all over the world; people using
them such places are spread all over the world, people
using them for rest and relaxation for centuries.
Swimming pools and health spas maybe considered just fun
and entertaining, but there much more usages for hot
water; for instance, they could be pipelined to far a
way buildings and communities for heating purposes.
In a better usage, California state uses geothermal
energy for producing electricity. This kind of usage is
limited to the site with a major volume of hot water and
steam.

The main spots are:
- the Geysers area north of San Francisco
- In the northwest corner of the state near Lassen
Volcanic National Park
- In the Mammoth Lakes area-the site of a huge ancient
volcano
- In the Coco Hot Springs area in Inyo County.
- In the Imperial Valley in Southern California.

Using for generating electricity, needs holes be drilled
under ground, taking out the mixture of water and steam
through pipes.
This way power plant does not need to any boiler
installation as seen in fossil fueled kind to produce
hot steam for driving turbines. In a turbine, blades
spin by the hot pressured spin causing the shaft
connected to a generator turn accordingly purposes.
Cooled water would be pumped back to the originated
place for a reheating cycle under ground.
The electricity generated in such a way after getting to
higher voltages in transformer are transmitted over the
power lines to the consuming destination.
Two million people in the world rely to this kind of
energy.

Geothermal/Ground source pumps
Upper layer of earth close to surface has a stable not
very hot temperature.
In an interesting finding all over the earth,
temperature of 10 feet depth is just around 10 to 16
degree C. so in a hot summer you may find a pleasant
cool environment in your house basement.

This way the pipes buried under ground, give an almost
constant temperature to flowed water inside them.
Using such a piping network, a natural heat exchanger is
available for any purpose needing such a system.
