Q: I know that
the the Sun's Corona is extremely hot about a million
degrees or so. My question is can hydrogen fusion occur in
the suns corona? If not why not? |
|
A:
No,
nuclear fusion does not occur in the corona. Although the
sun's corona can be as hot as the core in some places, it is
not at all dense (and nuclear fusion requires both extremely
high temperature and extremely high density). |
