Triassic period (240 to 205 million years ago)
From many aspects, it was a transitional period. Pangea, the unique continent on the Earth changed the climate of the whole Earth and oceanic cycle. This period had the biggest extinction of the whole life, and after that event those remaining living things scattered throughout the world. Triassic live animals can be inserted in three groups as follows;
-Permo-Triassic extinction survivors
-New groups with slight distribution
-New groups which were dominant in Mesozoic era world. Dry climate continued of Permian continued till this period. When the supercontinent of Pangea was in its biggest condition, life was being captured by medium-size reptiles, which were similar to mammals. Dinosaurs were dominant in the last 10 to 15 million years of this period. They could walk upright, had a magnificant growth in two types of carnivore and herbivore. Parallel to dinosaurs, mammals scattered on the Earth, but their size was very small similar to a mouse. The first vertebrates that could fly (pterosaurs), the first crocodiles, frogs and turtles belong to this period. Ceratides and ichthyosaurs (sea reptile) were living in warm oceans in this period. Plant fossils of this period are from coniferophytes and a type of non-flowering plant.
