When shadow of Earth falls on the moon the phenomena of LUNA ECLIPSE occurs and this occurs every 6 months on average.

                         Types of Lunar Eclipses                    

Total Eclipse: When full moon enters to darkest part of Earth's Shadow (umbra)

Partial Eclipse: When  only part of moon enters to darkest part of Earth's shadow (umbra).

                       Duration of Lunar Eclipses                  

When the moon is within the Earth's umbra for one hour in total eclipse, this is known as totality.

                 Frequency of Lunar Eclipse                       

As incline plane of the moon's orbit is about 5ocompare to Earth. Lunar eclipses are infrequent and two lunar eclipse occurs per year which is visible in some parts of earth.
