Khuzestan province, 64236 km2 surface area, is located between 29 58 - 33 04 N latitude & 47 41 – 50 29 E longitudes.
Siliceous rocks & sands are used in glass industry, hygienic porcelain, enameling, gas bulb & other industries such as sodium siliceous. Major silica deposits of Khuzestan are: Chehila/ Um-Oldobs, Haft-Tapeh. Chahila deposit is considered as part of Aqajari Formation, which can be easily excavated by loader after overburden –stripping. It is necessary to wash the sand by mechanical equipments before presenting it to the market.
Other usages of the sands are in making concrete, mosaic ore mixing it with cement in other civil projects.
Um-Oldabs siliceous sand deposit has a proven reserve of 11/340/000t & 3 Km2 surface areas. Haft Tapeh of 2.4Km2 surface area has a probable reserve of 2592X104 t & 18144000t proven reserve.
