Currently chamotte bricks are of most consuming refractories in Iran, which their raw materials are mainly supplied from domestic resources. So consumption of this type of refractory has rapid growth.
The regions selected for exploration in western Alborz include Alamut and northwestern Alborz (between Tonekaon and Ashkevar). The Alamut is a mountainous zone, which the Moalem Kelaye County is located in the center. The coordinate of the area is 50 30-50 45E and 36 20-36 40N. Refractory material has occurred in Triassic-Jurassic boundary. Kuh No was suggested for more study.
Tonekabon is located between 50 15-50 45E and 36 30-36 50 and includes Latgan, eastern Latgah and Lak Torshan. Ashkevar is a hardly accessible mountain, which its exploration was left.
In northwestern Alborz, three zones of east of Mahneshan, Maraqeh-Ajabshir and Shahin Dezh were studied. Mahneshan with coordinate of 47 45-48E and 36 40-36 50N has some layers of bauxite. Maraqeh-Ajabshir consists of five districts. Shahin Dezh includes some horizons at Chopoqlu, Norouzlu, Ali Balta, Qezel Qieh, Kadlu, Aghajari, Qourqchi and Tazaekand.
The exploration of Kordestan was conducted in two areas of Saqez and Boukan in addition to Kermanshah and Ilam.
