Haraz River originates from elevations of Alborz and area of its drainage basin is more than 1100 km2. Gradient for Haraz River is 13/1000 from mountain boundary to north of Amol city and it is 7/1000 in area of Amol city. Local base level (LBL) of Haraz River is -20 m in area of city. Width of stream-bed is 30-35 m. Hydrography station has not been observed in path of Haraz River.
Morphology: Haraz River flows in a partly narrow valley in its mountainous region. Width of this river increases in near the beach plain and the stream parts to several branches due to gradient loss of stream-bed. Width of valley is about 500 m in around of Darakeh village and width of path for Haraz River is about 1000 m in place of exit from mountainous region. Haraz River parts to six branches in its mountain. Whereas Barikrud (in east) and Tajrud (in west) as boundary of expansion for Haraz River, width of alluvial fan for this stream has been estimated 9 km in near the Caspian Sea. Main cities developed on alluvial fan for Haraz River are Amol & Fereydunkenar counties. Haraz River passes from Amol city. Haraz River has a river valley pattern in mountainous region and direct current for stream is the combination of braided pattern and fan forming in Caspian beach plain. Haraz River joins Caspian Sea as meandering stream in north of Amol city (Index of meander for this river is very high in north of Amol city.).
