Abstract
Satellite data and related processing methods are useful tools for assessment of mineral potential on the regional scale. This report is the result of such study that conducted on the Kashan sheet. The information of this study will be used in the Regional Systematic Exploration Project along with other types of information.
Used data include TM Landsat data and KFA-1000 cosmos data (1:500000). The methodology involves four stages of data collection, processing, interpretation and field checking. As the result, thematic maps of igneous structures, fractures, hydrothermal alterations and favorable mineral zones were produced. A 32 Km2 wide zone was identified as a favorable mineralized zone to be explored in the future. This study produced four processed images for intrusive bodies, fractures, hydrothermal alterations and favorable mineralized zones. Most important ring structure in the Kashan sheet is located at the northwestern area that is related to a dioritic body. Thrust faults are dominant structures in the area that strikes N48E. left lateral strike slip faults are trending N60E. A set of arcuate normal faults exist in the area that are result of granitic intrusion.
