Prospection of mineral deposits in the Qusheh-Dagh area, southwest of Mekinshahr
Abstract
The study area is located at west of Sabalan mountain and southwest of Meshkinshahr, between 47o 19' 30" to 47 41' 49" eastern longitudes and 38 11' 08" to 38 22' 24" northern latitudes. The study area is 600 square kilometers. It belongs to the Ardebil province. The aim of study is to prospect for mineral deposits on the scale 1:20000. The project includes geology mapping on the scale 1:50000 and anomaly mapping on the scale 1:20000. The project was started by photogeology, and followed by field traverse, taking 2500 rock and altered samples, preparing 300 thin sections, analyzing 40 stream sediment samples and studying 50 heavy mineral samples. 300 samples were analyzed for As, Cu, Zn and Pb by spectrophotometery method.
The result of study shows that Pb-Zn, Cu and Au mineralization has occurred in the area that requires further studies. Anzan and Qaranliq Darreh villages are introduced as mineralized zones.
Suggestions for more exploration include:
- Anzan area: geochemical exploration in a 2-Km wide E-trending band starting from Pashabeiglu village, Magnetometric and IP survey in the area, drilling.
- Qaranliq Darreh area: geochemical exploration in a 1-Km wide band starting from Meshkinchay village, more denser heavy mineral study in the area, especially in the Parvizabad Chay, magnetometric survey in the southern region, drilling program in the Meshkinchay river, near the gold mineral indication.
